CREDA, MoHUA joining hands to upskill construction workers

Mumbai: Real estate industry body CREDAI is joining hands with the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) and the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) to implement a programme called NIPUN to provide skills to construction workers in the country.

Under the National Initiative for Promotion of Upskilling of Nirman Workers (NIPUN) programme, CREDAI will impart training to the real estate and construction workers, CREADI said in a statement.

Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) Hardeep S Puri said, “I am very pleased today that my colleagues in the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs in collaboration with CREDAI, NAREDCO and other industry stakeholders have decided to catch the bull by the horn as the lack of skilled labour continues to be dominant in the construction industry. While for the unskilled part of the work, you will get a large number of applicants but as you continue to go up the skill ladder, there are only a few applicants. At a time, when technology is determining the future of a project, investing in the training of the required professional skill sets will help the country grow and as the country grows, these workers grow as well.”
