25k kms highway, 4 logistics parks and 8 ropeway projects on the anvil in FY23: Sitharaman

New Delhi: Finance Minister Nirmala Sithraman today said that National Highways network would be expanded by 25,000 kms and Rs 20,000 will be arranged for roads and highways sector through innovative means of financing in 2022-2023.

While proposing the Union Budget 2022, Sitharaman said that contracts for multi-modal logistics parks will be awarded at four locations under PPP mode in the year 2022-23. She also said that to de-conges urban areas, contracts for as many as eight ropeway projects totaling length of 60 kms will be given in 2022-23.

She also said that data exchange among all the mode operators in the country would be brought on Unified Logistics Interface Platform (ULIP) which will be designed for Application Programming Interface (API). This will result  in more efficient movement of goods across the country through different modes, reducing cost and time. This will also help in just-in-time inventory management, apart from getting rid of tedious documentation. 

Sitharaman added that various projects in sectors like highway, roads, ports, railways, airports, logistics infra, mass transport and waterways falling in National Infrastructure Pipeline would be aligned with PM GatiShakti module.
